flüchtig – ‘a brief encounter’

This installation is about a brief, fleeting encounter between a refugee boy and a news cameraman. The encounter took place in post-war Germany where, for a short moment, the worlds of these two people met through the lens of a camera before continuing their way. What remains are the hoping, questioning eyes of the boy.
When a visitor enters the room and sits down on the chair, the movie starts. The boy is looking up and keeps looking directly at the spectator till he/she is standing up. Then the movie goes on, showing the boy turning around and walking away, with a quick look back after a short time.
